INSHORE REPORT

Virginia Beach:
The inshore bite has been solid this week. Puppy drum (redfish) are cruising the grass lines and flats around Lynnhaven and Rudee Inlet — especially active during outgoing tides with live mullet or soft plastics. Speckled trout are still showing in decent numbers early in the morning. Flounder catches have picked up around the bridges and drop-offs, particularly on bucktails tipped with gulp. Spot and croaker are being caught off the piers with bloodworms.

Outer Banks:
Down on the OBX, anglers are finding consistent action in the sounds. Red drum and trout are biting near Oregon Inlet and in the shallows behind Nags Head. Surf fishermen are reporting sea mullet, pompano, and small blues around Kitty Hawk and Hatteras beaches. Early morning topwater has been effective for specks and drum near the grass beds.

OFFSHORE REPORT

Virginia Beach:
The tuna bite has slowed a bit, but boats running out to the canyons are still landing some yellowfin and a few bigeyes deeper. Mahi-mahi have been thick around weed lines in 20–40 fathoms, and the occasional wahoo is being caught on high-speed trolls. Billfish sightings are increasing, with more white marlin showing up off the Norfolk Canyon.

Outer Banks:
From Oregon Inlet, offshore boats are reporting solid mahi action and steady sailfish hookups. Yellowfin tuna are scattered but still around, especially out toward the Point. A few blue marlin have been released this week, making it an exciting time for offshore crews. Bottom fishing around wrecks has produced triggerfish, sea bass, and the occasional grouper.
